This blog is basically me pretending to be a photographer.
Over here I pretend to be a writer/photographer.
I have issues.

I'm in a Fog!

As our tug towed our barge toward New York City from Boston, Massachusettes, the fog started
setting in.
.

In less than an hour, the barge could barely be seen,

Soon, it was invisable. Im sure it's quite unsettling to the mate steering the boat, towing a barge he can't see.

To say nothing of the feeling he must get when he looks out the wheelhouse window and sees nothing.

It's days like these I'm glad I work in the engine room.

A perfect day for a boat ride

To the right of the sunset, way back there, is the city of Boston.

Winter at the Gardens

Yesterday we jaunted off toLongwood Gardens again to find respite from what has been a cold snowy winter here at my house.
Surprisingly we found the grounds outside just as appealing as the warmth inside the Conservatory.

The Battery/The Brooklyn Bridge and Yonkers

We're at anchor off Yonkers. The ice is starting to build along the shore line.

Can't wait for Spring

I don't know about you, but I'm growing tired of taking pictures of ice.
I can't wait for Spring.

Vibration and movement

Going up the East River tonight, I set my camera on the edge of the tug, hoping to capture streaks of light as we went by.

What I didn't think about was the effect the vibration of the tug would have on the lights.
I thought, Oh, cool!

Caught my eye

Every Friday I drive to this CSA farm to pick up my box of vegetables.
I thought this road looked cool for some reason.

These buggies were driven by a few of the workers on the farm.

Old and New

This beautiful tree is just minutes from my house. I've never really noticed it before.
How can that be?
The balcony of The Newseum in DC on Pennsylvania Ave.

Like I remember.

Ok, so I'm on the boat and it snows. I'm impressed with the 6 to 8 inches we got.
I take my camera and study the angle of the light, check the settings and focus before taking the shot. I study the result, trying to figure out how to improve my photo.
Upon arriving home, my wife shows me photos she took of the snow she got.
She saw the snow, grabbed her point and shoot.
She pointed and shot.
Darn her.

Haul Anchor

Underway after 2 weeks at anchor, the engines protest, belching white smoke.
