Thanks for stirring memories of visiting this place when I was a kid. Is there still a lighted fountain show at night?

Next time you visit your daughter here, get her to take you to Meridian Hill Park, aka Malcom X Park, up 16th Street. It's not nearly as spectacular as Longwood, but during the warm months, the cascade and flowers are gorgeous. The pavement and walls are all made of a material that no one has been able to replicate.

. . . one more thing about Meridian Hill -- when you drive back down 16th St. towards the White House, you'll enjoy a camera op like no other. The Jefferson Memorial dome looks like it's attached to the White House.

Peg--yes, they still have the lighted fountains and they are still amazing. The christmas light decorations on hundreds of trees inside and out are really great.
We live 15 minutes from Longwood and usually pop in there 3 or 4 times a year. This year my wife and I payed for a yearly pass, and now we go when ever we get the urge to go for a walk. Its great.
Thanks for the info on Meridian Park, Ive heard my daughter speak of it, we will be sure to check it out this spring and looking forward to that photo op.
